Summary:  Kahler Automation designs control systems for bulk material handling of grain, chemicals, fertilizer, minerals, and household products and more. These automated systems provide the ability to run a facility with ease and accuracy. They control product loadout, receiving and inventory, and tie directly into an accounting/invoicing software, increasing competitiveness while reducing overhead. Kahler Automation also is working to become a key Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) solutions provider with the appropriate key partner(s) going forward.

This technical, full-time position involves the creation of a business strategy providing and delivering necessary business growth for their territory, execution of strategy and the ability to manage and build new relationships with many key customers in a variety of industries. This position’s territory includes the states of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Sell all Kahler products within their assigned territory – liquid automation, dry automation, grain and LP automation equipment, industrial applications (those outside of agriculture), as well as vehicle traffic control equipment.

  • Use consultative selling approach to gain an understanding of what a customer is trying to accomplish. Once this knowledge is gained, solve (sell) their concerns using Kahler Automation products and services.

  • Provide key information to engineering regarding new products, markets and general industry information allowing Kahler to continuously improve as a company.

  • Work to achieve sales targets and goals within territory annually.

  • Work to establish and build relationships with all current and potential customers involving liquid and dry bulk material handling companies within the assigned territory.

  • Work with all automation industry partners in an effort to build business relationships and create business opportunities through strategic partnership efforts.

  • Assist customer with creation and eventual approval of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) to ensure a mutual understanding of what the system will include and consist of is realized.

  • Work to ensure that all current Kahler systems that have been sold in the past are working well within territory.

  • Provide direction for the Project Coordinator (PC) within defined territory to ensure all projects are fully understood by Kahler engineering before they are sold.

  • Work with Kahler service and phone technicians to trouble shoot customer issues on-site, as needed in an effort to provide highest level of service support possible.

  • Assist the technical support team (hardware and software) as necessary with on-site diagnostics.

  • Assist in analyzing sales trends, managing sales forecasts and identify adjacent industry opportunities.

  • Collaborate with Kahler management on product pricing, promotions, advertising, and new product introductions.

  • Provide weekly trip reports to ensure assigned territory has proper Kahler representation.

  • Keep enterprise resource planning (ERP) system up-to-date with activity in the territory.

Job Requirements:

  • Technical skills are a must, including a familiarity with basic electrical logic, industrial equipment including pumps, transfer equipment, electrical panels, and facility experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four or more years of Project Management or Sales experience required.

  • Proven ability to provide expertise, direction, and knowledge to customers.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to effectively and clearly write reports, business correspondence, and verbally communicate.

  • Strong presentation skills; small informational groups as well as large formal groups.

  • Able to manage multiple priorities with highly effective follow through skills.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.

  • Must be able to travel as necessary to attain the agreed upon sales goals and as sales opportunities and project requirements (likely 60-70%). Customer visits will require overnight stays. Travel may be by automobile and airplane.
