Kahler Automation Featured in "My Town" Documentary Series

A Global Reach in Agriculture from Small-Town Minnesota

Fairmont, Minn. – When a documentary film crew arrived in southern Minnesota to explore what makes the town of Fairmont special, local leaders insisted they make Kahler Automation one of their stops.

Founder and chairman Wayne Kahler invited filmmaker Cory Hepola and his “My Town” team on a tour of the facility, where they discussed the company’s long history in Fairmont – from the electrical shop Wayne’s father started more than 75 years ago, to his exploration of computer programming in the early 1980s, which eventually led to the launch of a small independent agricultural automation business in 1991.

Fast forward 35 years, and Kahler Automation is the industry leader in bulk material handling control systems and enterprise data management… still family-owned, employing nearly 100 people in the small town of Fairmont, Minn., and with thousands of successful projects throughout the United States, Canada, and around the world.

The film crew also paid a visit to a local ice cream shop where, over scoops of sweet treats, Hepola chatted with Wayne and his wife, Char, about the importance of family and community.

Watch season 2, episode 8 of the “My Town” series (“CoryComes Clean in the ‘Bacon Capital of the USA’”) now
