Obsolescence of Truck Scale Management
Truck Scale Management is moving to LOADPASS®
Kahler Automation is evolving the way truck scale management workflows are handled. Truck Scale Management (TSM) will be obsoleted as a standalone application, with its core driver check-in and order-loading workflow moving into LOADPASS.

The Road Ahead
The obsolescence of Truck Scale Management allows Kahler to bring more of the facility and driver experience together in one connected platform—while giving customers greater flexibility in how they manage drivers and loading activities.
A simpler path forward.
Maintaining driver check-in and loading workflows as a separate application creates unnecessary complexity. Bringing these workflows into LOADPASS allows Kahler to focus future development, support, and innovation on one platform.
Reduces product overlap.
Consolidating overlapping TSM and LOADPASS functionality creates a more focused product experience and reduces duplicate workflows across platforms.
Flexibility for every operation.
LOADPASS supports both driver self-service and employee-assisted check-in, giving facilities flexibility based on their operation and staffing needs.
Keeps essential workflows in place.
The functionality customers rely on is not being eliminated. Driver check-in, weighing, order review, and loading activities will continue in LOADPASS, including employee-assisted workflows.
TSM into LOADPASS:
Frequently Asked Questions
Kahler Automation is moving the core truck scale management workflows from TSM into LOADPASS. TSM will be obsoleted as a standalone application, while essential workflows—including driver check-in, weighing, order review, and loading activities—will continue through LOADPASS.
Bringing TSM functionality into LOADPASS allows Kahler to focus development, support, and innovation on one connected platform rather than maintaining overlapping functionality across two applications.
This creates a simpler product experience for customers while giving facilities greater flexibility in how they manage drivers and loading activities.
The core workflows customers rely on today will continue in LOADPASS, including:
- Driver check-in
- Employee-assisted check-in
- Driver self-service
- Weighing activities
- Order review
- Loadout and loading workflows
- Driver and order activity tracking
No. The goal is to maintain the essential TSM workflows customers rely on while bringing them into LOADPASS.
Kahler will work with customers to understand their current workflows and ensure the appropriate LOADPASS capabilities are in place before migration.
Yes. LOADPASS supports both driver self-service and employee-assisted check-in.
Facilities can choose the approach—or combination of approaches—that best fits their staffing, driver population, and daily operations.
No. LOADPASS is designed to support different operating models. Facilities can use driver self-service, employee-assisted check-in, or a combination of both.
Consolidating these workflows into LOADPASS provides several benefits, including:
-
Fewer applications: Bring driver check-in and loadout workflows together in one platform.
-
Greater flexibility: Choose the check-in and loading processes that fit your operation.
-
Better visibility: Capture driver interactions and maintain order and activity history.
-
More guided movement: Help drivers navigate to scales, bays, and loading areas.
-
Greater efficiency: Automate more of the driver and loadout process to reduce manual work.
The hardware requirements will depend on your current TSM setup and the LOADPASS workflow you plan to use. Your Kahler Regional Account Manager will work with you to evaluate your existing environment and determine what, if anything, is needed for your operation.
Yes. Kahler will work with customers to understand how TSM is currently being used and determine the appropriate path to LOADPASS.
Customers whose operations depend on specific capabilities will have their workflows reviewed and validated before migration.
Multi-order staging and expanded order details are coming soon to LOADPASS.
If your operation depends on these capabilities, Kahler will review and validate your workflows before migration to ensure the appropriate functionality is available.
Support and license availability for TSM will end January 1, 2030.
Kahler will work with customers during the transition period to establish a migration path.
Not necessarily. TSM will remain supported through January 1, 2030. However, Kahler recommends beginning discussions early so there is adequate time to review your current workflows, plan the transition, and prepare your operation for LOADPASS.
Your migration path will depend on how your facility currently uses TSM and the workflows, hardware, and capabilities required for your operation.
Your Kahler regional account manager can discuss your current setup, answer questions, and help determine the next steps for your facility.
Yes. TSM is $520 annually, while LOADPASS is $500 annually. There is no additional charge for TSM functionality within LOADPASS. A $0.25 per-load fee applies to loads processed through LOADPASS, including TSM and driver-staged loads.
LOADPASS requires an Ethernet connection to the scale.
-
Already have LOADPASS on the scale? No additional hardware is needed.
-
Scale has Ethernet but no LOADPASS? No additional hardware is needed for staffed check-in and scale operation.
-
Scale is serial? An Ethernet-to-serial converter will be required and is available from Kahler.
-
Want unstaffed check-in and scale operation? Additional LOADPASS hardware is required.
Contact your Kahler Regional Account Manager to discuss your current TSM environment, migration options, and how LOADPASS can support your operation moving forward.
